Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour began his visit to Italy to
participate in the EU high-level conference on migration in Tallinn on
Thursday with foreign ministers from different continents.
The minister begin the meeting after his arrival with the chairman of
the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Pierre Ferdinando and Cassini,
discuss support and strengthen the developed relations between the two
countries and touched on the challenges facing peace in Africa and the
Middle East.
He expressed his hope to visit Sudan as soon as possible and observe
to document of the parliamentary friendship between the two countries,
on the other hand Ghandour will hold bilateral talks with the Italian
counterpart Angelino Alvano to discuss all issues related to pushing the
efforts of the growing relations between the two countries and
development of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Approximately 80,000 illegal immigrants have reached Italy from Libya
in the first six months of this year, which makes up 85 percent of all
illegal immigration to the EU in 2017 so far.
The migration pressure has reached such intensity over the past few weeks that Italy is no longer able to receive all refugees.
