Sudanese- Italian Agreement to Ease Banking Transactions

During a Ministerial Conference “A shared responsibility for a common goal: solidarity and security”, which is dedicated to the Countries of Origin and Transit of migration and being held in Rome, Sudan and Italy agreed on Saturday on programs to develop economic, development and trade cooperation to ease banking transactions between the two countries, as well as continued cooperation in the fields of combating terrorism, extremism, illegal immigration and human trafficking.
The meetings of the political consultation committee fourth session between the two countries were held at the level of senior officials, as part of the programs of the Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour visit to Italy.  
According to a press release by the Italian side, minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Sudan, Ibrahim A. Ghandour.
“We acknowledge Sudan’s role along the East Africa migration route and especially in the Khartoum Process, an instrument which is key in putting a stop to irregular migration flows and human trafficking,” said Minister Alfano.
He affirmed: “We greatly appreciate the effort that Sudan is making in welcoming a large number of refugees on its territory.”
During the meeting, the two ministers also addressed bilateral issues, concentrating special focus on the possibility of broadening the two Countries’ economic relations and on the main points on the regional agenda, from Libya to the Gulf crisis and the tension in the Horn of Africa.
“Italy is fully aware of the role played by Sudan in bridging Sub-Saharan and Mediterranean Africa, which is why we are convinced that a stable Sudan will be capable of assuring peace and stability in both regions,” concluded Minister Alfano. 
Minister Ghandour held several discussions with the Foreign Minister and the Italian Parliament.
The Spokesman for the Sudanese Foreign Ministry, ambassador GharibAllah Kidir said in a press statement that the talks dealt with ways of developing bilateral relations in the various economic, political, commercial, scientific and cultural fields, as well as enhancing coordination and mutual support in international and regional forums. At the highest levels of the two countries.
He also added that “specific programs have been agreed upon to develop economic, development and trade cooperation and facilitate banking transactions in light of the common desire of the private sector in both countries”.
The meetings focused on further cooperation in the areas of diplomatic training, judicial and justice training, exchange scholarships, promote the  Arabic and Italian language programs, joint work in archaeological excavations and the establishment of cultural and heritage forums.
He said The meeting also discussed Sudan’s role in contributing to regional and international partners in tackling a number of crises in the region, including Libya, South Sudan and the Nile Basin countries, and combating terrorism, extremism, illegal migration and human trafficking.
The talks also covered political developments in Italy and the Sudan, stressing the efforts to achieve comprehensive peace in Sudan and the recent agreement on UNAMID’s exit strategy from Sudan.
The Spokesman said that the Sudanese side provided enlightenment on the national dialogue outcomes, the formation of the new government and the current situation in negotiations with the SPLM and President Bashir’s announcement to renew the ceasefire until the end of next October to create the appropriate atmosphere for negotiation.
He said that the discussions confirmed the compatibility of views between the two countries on many issues at the local, regional and international levels and came up with recommendations aimed at increasing coordination in improving the stability in the region, increasing bilateral cooperation in all fields and joint coordination in international forums, along with securing the Political dialogue every six months, where the next session will be held in Khartoum in mid-January.
The two parties expressed their satisfaction at the level of the relations, while ensuring the continuation of the relationship and the creation of practical programs in the interest of upgrading the level of partnership between the two countries
